I am sure from my experience with (neurontin) in the early marketing campaign being prescribed by a Psychiatrist for Bipolar Disorder, later to find out it was never FDA apporoved for such a disorder.
I am sure since the Lawsuit brought against the manufactures of Neurontin and the MANY side effects of the drug in its early uses inappropriate and illegal prescribing bonus and paybacks to the Psycians and Psychiatrists, that the Insurance Company has to be very careful as to the type of MD prescribing the medication and for what reasons in order to 'cover themselves' of a lawsuit, in my opinion I would go directly to the prescribing physican and investigate the dose and for what reason and what the insurance company is saying.
Then perhaps ask of possible adverse side effects of Neurontin on your daughter and the dangers as well as alternative to this medication.
I was taking it for extented period of time during the pre-lawsuit and finding out's of the Company's Marketing strategy and found out alot of my problems I was having as a 20 something adult ex)bedwetting was a direct of the Neurontin. Please ask questions to the doc about this med and its dangerous side effects. Take care
