Rainzz ,, I know a bit about this ,, if you are going to raise for research >> first ya have to build a block or poured concrete building ..
Ya have to have an autoclave and sterile entryroom and clothing to enter breeding area .
The enviro must be super filtrated and bacterial free to be within guidlines as to institution you will be shipping them too .
The reasearchers expect some viral transmission dureing shipping .. Your obligations are to certify the breeding enviroment . To be germ and bacterial free.
There are Gov. agencies that do periodical inspections and there are test kits and airborne spore trapps that you have to maintain something like every 8 or 12 hours >> I don't recall all that .
My knowledge comes from early days in the early mid 60's . My father was one of the first in midwest U S to raise exclusively for research when cancer reasearch was in it's infancy .
Now if ya want to raise for pet stores ? > Looser restrictions >> but ya not know if they become feeder rats ..
Hope this has helped .
