(((((Mel)))))

I, too, was always the one my family had high expectations of and I also ended up being the butt of my friends jokes. It got to me so much that I have now lost touch with all my friends and I'm really lonely. I never confronted them about it. Honestly, your friends probably don't even realise what they are doing. I guess they don't know you're depressed? Why don't you talk to your closest friend and try and tell her how you are feeling, or even write it down. If they're truly are a good friend to you then he/she will want to help you in any way they can.
Could they be making fun of you 'becoming a dropout' as an indirect way of trying to tell you that you need to try a bit harder and attend school?
They care about you and so do your family. But neither group of them are mind readers (re-reading that, that sounds harsh... I don't mean it in a harsh way)... if you don't tell them how you are feeling or how you think they could help you then they can't do it because they don't know.

I wish you all the best ((((mel))))
