I think what's up with it is that the other forum used to have the message we were replying to come up in a separate box so we could refer back to what was being said & respond.....I think that is why is comes up in the quote is so that we can see what we are replying to. After finishing the reply, we can just delete the quote & it doesn't have to go out with the reply.

I know for me, I end up forgetting to delete the quote before sending out the reply, & it can get quite crazy when the quotes start adding up. The good thing is that they are easily deleted.

just my take on what the quote thing is all about.
