Good points Malady. The "shadow knows" that I'm often of a mind to assess things of various natures with the kind of "realism" displayed in the 10 Ways. But as far as coming out with it (and here, a place where we can't insist that people have skins of even average thickness), maybe a good question to ask is: if someone registered and made that as their first post, would defense/support/perception of good will likely be the majority interpretation of it. The standard probably shouldn't be different.
The shadow also knows that in my heart of hearts, I love to phrase things in what I think is a humorously sarcastic way. But I'm trying to face that the intended innocence (or so I may be telling myself) is likely to miss its mark, especially in writing. And, packaged with a certain tone, a message that really was worth delivering can get hopelessly muddied. The same points could have safely been made, in a "have you ever considered.." "I just thought maybe this could help many of us..." kind of way. But as someone who also enjoys writing and putting zip/punch in things, I do know that wouldn't feel nearly as satisfying.
I also think that in life in general, the mirror-type argument is a too-easy but not necessarily fair "win." One of those situations where to disagree or hold another opinion whatsoever -- here, whether about list contents or appropriateness of tone/posting it, etc. -- will be unilaterally used as proof of something lacking, faulty or indicative. Not many things in life over which we're permitted no differing opinion, including passionate ones. So it's often a *no* win situation. And, in any event, we probably can't consider our creations/utterings to be somehow "professionally formulated" to the extent that we can conclusively declare them accurate mirrors of something else. At the least, I think it's fair to say that what's "fair" here is to concede that any objectors do have a point (and it isn't necessarily something about them).
I just like the philosophical stuff, btw. I mean no negativity here myself, and may be missing MY mark! I very much enjoy wry humor and again, I certainly saw the points in the list and know there is often truth to them.
