The MHA (Mental Health America--formerly Mental Health Assoc.) director is a therapist who leds the support group I go to for people with depression & bipolar. I emailed the article to her as she also keeps up on the current literature on these topics. I did not find it above my level of understanding or too difficult for me to concentrate on & I take 6 meds for bipolar 1 & have ADHD & take Concerta for that.

I definitely could feel the pain & desperation of the parents. I have a friend who has a 21-year-old son with bipolar who is delusional & was just released from the hospital today. He is not stable. He's been in the hospital 4 times in the last year (since his initial break). He has had a suicide attempt & threatened to kill his mother. The hospital said they have done all they can do for him & this is about as good as he is going to get. The mother is scared. The hospital said no group homes (very few of them here) have room; it is either send him home or to the homeless shelter! Talk about heartless. I thought the people at the hospital were supposed to be there to help--not just dump people when they are weak.

I didn't see the article mentioned in the bipolar thread as it is lower down on the list of threads & I often run out of time & don't get down that far!--Suzy
