I just read this.....sorry to hear what you were going through. I am with you....knock me completely out.....I don't want to know what's going on....just before & after.....& don't bother me inbetween.
I have had several procedures done while awake & that wasn't very ok.....but I too got through them. When I had my knee surgery, it was almost 9 months later, but when I kneeled, it was like a stabbing that went into my knee, right at a specific spot. I went back to the surgeon & he ended up giving my knee a local & poked around.....pulled out a huge knot....a suture that hadn't disolved......they tied it into so many knots, it was one huge little ball. He shows it to me & says, does this look like the culpret???? Strange how tha spot is still sensitive after 20+ years.....who would think.
The other procedures that I hate are the central lines with the IV nutrition I have had to have too many times to count. They always keep you awake for that procedure....making a small incision right by the collar bone.....then they have to insert a wire & tube into the blood vessle next to the heart.....go figure. one time they knicked my lung....they didn't realize it until after the xray they have to take & then in the middle of the night, I was surrounded by everyone waking me up & whatever happened, I don't even remember, but I had the leg wraps on my legs with the inflation stuff for days so as not to have blood clots form & I can't remember what else happened (sometimes we block out the bad).
Like Bebop...IV's are another of my problems....it would't be so bad if they could get in on the first try, but after 5 times & still no vein......I have told them to go away & unless someone knows what they are doing....leave me alone!!!! Unfortunately, it's usually because I am so dehydrated & that is usually what causes the problem in the first place.
Your vision of running topless through the Dr's office & decking a nurse.....is really a funny picture in my mind......but sure it wasn't at the time.
You are in my prayers that the next procedure won't be necessary, but if it is, that they will take care of you & put you out for the procedure......no reason to have to have pain & it seems they can't deaden your senses in that area very well.
Love,
Debbie
