I don't know if the loss of that particular person will hit you or the loss of what "could" have been. . . and now never can be. Since you didn't "know" him very well, having not talked to him/interacted with him much your feelings may be more about what you wish could have been rather than really caring that that particular person were still around. The idea of "father" being gone beyond retrieving might make things hard for you. Do you have a therapist or someone you can talk things over with?
