ACK! Elavil and Prozac should NEVER be taken together!! There are clear, documented cases of deaths associated with this! Prozac can hang around in the body for a month or longer and tricylic antidepressants like Elavil can increase to lethal levels because Prozac intereferes with their metabolism in the liver. This is something every third year medical student should know, let alone your psychiatrist!
