My Mom had vertigo once. It came out of nowhere. She came down with it immediately after dropping me off at the hospital to give birth. I'd been there all night and the previous evening and she had no symptoms at all; she got home and it just hit. She couldn't open her eyes because the room would spin. It took a few weeks for her to feel better.
