T used EMDR with me jst a lil last night for the first time. I've now been with her a year...well almost, next month. I've had some not good experiences with it in the past, but last night i processed some trauma stuff and was shifted into a really painful place. T asked about the EMDR that I had had and said she'd like to try some with me if i'd be ok with that to move the fear and trauma so i am not stuck with it.
She had me watch her as she moved her hand back and forth (i feel like I've written this somewhere, but I can't finf it in PC for my life) and zigzaged my eyes to follow her motions. It felt pretty strange to do that and made me feel dizzy and cause discomfort in my eyes, but I have to say that it helped me get back to myself.
I was not able to hold that once I got home and released some of the grief, but I am thankful that I was not 10 when I left there.... like last session when I was 8 upon leaving.
