Lar, I've been a vegetarian for decades. Usually my nails are like horse hoofs...so this is really wierd for me. Do you want to change you advice any?

I had a number of things come to mind, and I gave you the most likely (in my estimation). As you don't eat face food, you are at enhanced risk of eicosanoid deficiency or imbalance. It can take some time for the physical symptoms of such to come to the fore. Mood would certainly decline before your fingernails would go.
In any case, here are some more thoughts:
1. yer gettin' old.
2. you have an incomplete amino acid intake (eight essential aminos, some hard to obtain in vegetarian diets).
3. you've been exposed to a cleaning agent or solvent that has defatted your nails, making them brittle. (yes, nails contain fat, and water, too) Coating them nightly with vaseline might help, if that's the cause.
4. you have developed a disease state that has symptoms including decreased nail strength.
Otherwise, don't ask Lar.

And the people on this board, not knowing our other conversation from the other board, now think you are a TOTAL perv.

Making note of your, errr, sausage obsession, makes me a perv? Oh, I see how this works.
