There are some meds that have fewer side effects at hgher doses...it's counter intuitive. I don't know all the meds that this s true of, but remeron is one. At the lowest dose of remeron, I was excessively sleepy and seriously HUNGRY (not good when one is diabetic). My pdoc warned me about this and we increased the dose in less then a week. At the increased level the hungriness went away and the sleepiness eased but was still there. This was okay because we were using it partially for sleep. My pdoc explained to me that if we increased the dose agan, it was likely that the sleepiness would go away too. Very weird...but when I went off the med, tapered down, the hungriness reappeared at the lower dose! So it is possible that side effects would be less at a higher dose.

Ask your pdoc about it.
