allthegirls, there are 12 social groups already. You can check these out by clicking on 'social groups' in your profile or in the quick links tab.
From my understanding, groups are either invitation only(creator chooses) or are public groups(anyone can join.) I'm presuming 'moderated' just means you can choose to have it moderated if you wished.
