A few things I've been told or discovered myself:

-you have to use a new blade every time. I used to recycle mine at least 4-5 times as blades are so expensive but if you don't use a new one each time you end up with more bumps & cuts.
-let your skin get really wet first, shampoo & all that first, then lather on lots of shave gel a section at a time to begin shaving
-don't use the triple blade razors (a nurse at a dermatologist's office told me that), they give you more bumps & dermatitis she said. I use a double blade one that has an aloe vera strip on the top of the blades. Oh yeah, manual of course. Would like to try electric but not sure what kind would be best or if they work that well.
-neosporin clears up the red bumps pretty quickly I found (just make sure no one will be touching you or smelling you though!)
