sadly for me, as someone who still dissociates, i have had to pay for about 4 books in the last 2 years. because i sometimes switch into thinking from another part of myself my memory can be very spastic and drives me crazy. i try to do small things like keep them all in one spot and that helps, but is not a total solution. my library system is very kind about giving 6 months to search the other library branches and hunt for the books.....some i've even found long after i paid for them. i wouldn't feel so awful when i had to pay for losing a book - but in our town the fines go into the city coffers and NOT directly to the library to replace the book. grrrrrr that makes me angry. i love my library and hate being a disorganized library patron...sigh...=(
