You are going to love it so, so much. It's hard work but the enjoyment & getting to be with the animals can't be beaten. I started volunteering at a local horse rescue last year and it's one of the best things I've ever done. I love animals way more than people and feel much safer around them & trust them a lot more than I do people, so being around them helps me a lot. They come from awful backgrounds & situations, have horrible horrible stories and are in unimaginable horrible horrible body shape, but you'll get endless rewards out of loving on them & helping to care for them & turn them back into their beautiful selves. And treating them with the love & respect they should have gotten & deserved in the first place.

I've been amazed at my capabilities with it too. I am NOT a morning person and I'm the type that gets cold if it's below 80. But rain or shine, wind or snow, thunderstorms or ice, I'm out there helping to take care of those beautiful creatures. I used to ride and miss it like mad but don't have a horse and can't afford lessons, so it's also a wonderful way for me to still get to be around horses. The horses can sense when you're sad and they'll make you feel better too. Plus seeing their faces always makes me smile. They can make me laugh without even trying; their mannerisms, personalities, habits, they're funny when you get to know them. Such beautiful mystic creatures, you're embarking on a wonderful thing!
