Oddly enough, Canadian Thanksgiving used to be celebrated on a Thursday in November, just like American Thanksgiving. In fact it's moved around all over the place:

In general American holidays seem to be based on enchanting but whitewashed stories, while Canadian holidays seem to be based on a lot of bureaucratic confusion and bickering. Seems fitting for both sides. (I hope people don't take offence, I'm just having a bit of fun)
