I am sorry they didn't come when you called. I think often if they know it is a domestic violence situation they will wait because they are such volatile, dangerous situations. but it sounds like you called afer he left, so i don't know what kept them.
Do you have your kids now?
Can you call a crisis line and have them help move you to a safe location?
I think that is what I would try to do if it were me.
THey can help get you safe in a shelter and help you get a Domestic Violence grant if you need one and set you up with help so you don't have to keep going through this.

Sounds like (from what I can see) you might benefit from changing the arrangements legally and get a restraining order?
