One person mentioned writing things down, and I agree with that. When I was discharged from the hospital in August, my therapist recommended that I journal. I just wasn't interested, however, and I really resisted the idea. She finally gave me a journal from her office and encouraged me to try it as a way to vent feelings and also as a form of distraction. I started with short, little entries, and now I hardly ever miss a day. Another useful reason to journal is that it documents your day-to-day feelings and moods. It is interesting to go back sometimes and read what I have written. In my journal I have read signs of progress, and also seen how quickly things can change up and down. It gives me a solid reference for when I talk to my therapist, too.
