I think glycerin-based ointment type moisturizers are really good for problem dryness. My dermatologist told me that lotions that are water-based are actually drying. The glycerin-based moisturizers don't have water in them and really work. I use Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream. It's called a cream, but I consider it an ointment. Creams are usually white and ointments are clear. It is worth its weight in gold, and sells for a good price at Target. Neutrogena has intensive moisturizing products for body and face too. Look for the word "glycerin" to avoid the water-based products that dry you out.

One that is great for feet is another glycerin product from Burt's Bees, called "Coconut Foot Creme." I put it on overnight and in the morning, my feet are so much better. And it smells good too.
I've gotten some good ideas for new products to try from this thread.
