Hi there,
My 10 year old daughter (going on 11 in December) seems to be suffering from separation anxiety and maybe general anxiety. I am not sure, let me know what you think.
Backgrounder: It has been just her and her sister and I for past 8 years now, since separation with her father. Father is not involved for past year. I had a seizure in May and crashed my van, with her in it at the time, neither of us were hurt, but obviously scared her tremendously.
Issues: She is generally easy going, but gets scared easily, worries about things happening not only too me ( like if I am in the bathtub, she went to her friends house, she comes back as she imagined finding me in the tub , dead.. ) but also to the house (it catches on fire, someone breaks in and hurts us and/or the cats etc). The other issue is if I need to go out, and that involves being in someone elses car, she doesn't want me to go.. For instance, my lovely neighbour has invited me to go to karaoke (which I love) and we wouldn't be back until about midnight as it starts at 10. Now neither of us drink, and she knows that.. but she is scared about me going. On Tuesday coming I have to take the bus to the hospital to see the neurologist about the siezures I had in May, she cant' come as she has a friend coming at 3 and I won't be back until 3:30 - 4pm.. again she is worried silly about it.
Suggestions? comments?
Thanks
Mischka
PS: We have a dr's appt tomorrow, but not sure I want to bring this up with her yet...
