I am one of those who shops all year through for things. It's not that I'm organized, it's that I'm broke, and I'd never be able to afford anything at all if I had to come up with a large sum of money at the last second. It's a lot easier to fit something like a music CD into my budget if I can buy it on sale. I also buy a lot of music on Ebay, btw.

I only buy for my son, his a-parents, and the family of the sister where I usually spend Christmas. Everybody is getting really minimal stuff this year. The brewery down the street from me has a tent sale every summer of merchandise they've discontinued, so I picked up some $2 Tshirts, for example. My niece, who loves anything to do with Peeps (those marshmallow bunnies, etc that come out at Easter) is getting a gag gift of a Peeps puzzle I got at a dollar store. (I'm also going to get her something more substantial, don't worry. )

While it would be nice to be able to afford to do it all at once, it does keep me on my toes, creatively speaking, to do it year round!
