NeuroTalk was started in 2006 because a large neurological support forum went offline and wouldn't provide its members any updates about when or even if it would ever return. After a month of that nonsense, we put up NeuroTalk as a place where those members could go to continue with their neurological support needs. A few months later, the other site did come back online but when we asked the NeuroTalk membership whether they wanted the site to stay or not, the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of letting it stay up.

So it is by and large more focused on neurological health concerns (with more than a few exceptions), and a handful of mental health concerns as well. We created the short-list of mental health concerns there because the other community had it too (we were trying to create a very similar home so people wouldn't be angry at not having a place to post in the new forums). Even though they overlap with our mission here at Psych Central, I've decided to keep them since some people just prefer that community for whatever reasons.

NeuroTalk is run and managed by Psych Central. It requires a separate login, however, and has a completely different community team that manages it (as well as a slightly different set of community guidelines). Anyone is welcomed to be a member in either place (or both), whichever they prefer and feel more comfortable with.
