Yes, my T and I share scholarly articles. If there is something I don't understand I can usually find out something about it online and then I make a note to ask him about it. IMHO, I think it is a compliment to you that your T shares this with you. Just don't hesitate to ask questions about what you don't understand. And I often ask for a general overview too.
