Thanks Kimmy. To tell you the truth, I wrote that late last night and I was kinda tired (having trouble sleeping lately ... sigh!). Anyway, I have thought of a couple more things that I could add, but there comes a point when too much information ruins an answer. I could have added information on a few more pharmacokinetic parameters that would affect the extent to which alcohol would affect blood levels of psychotropics.

Pharmacokinetics deals with how and why differences in genetic, environmental, and physiologic parameters of an individual affect their absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs, and to what extent these parameters differ from person to person. Thus alcohol consumption can definitely affect psych drug efficacy in some people much more than in others. Predicting who will have a clinically significant adverse drug-alcohol interaction can be rather complicated.

Just let your brother know that my original post is not the whole story. Thank you again for your kind words. - Cam
