1. Reach out to someone you trust. trust is important in recovering.
Some people who we can trust are: therapist, a close family member, a close friend.
2. Find new ways of coping with your feelings that can also hep tone down urges.
3. Figure out the function as to why you self harm.
If you can figure out what the function is then you can learn ways to get those needs met which will reduce your desire to hurt yourself.
example someone might self injure because it allows them to express emotional pain or feelings. alternatives of self injuring can be:
1. talk about the pain with the person you trust
2. write about the pain and explain it
3. draw or any other creative things you like that can help you espress yourself.
4. Most important is sharing your feelings with your therapist/counselor or support person.
5. Remember that recovery is a continuous process and you have to continue trying.
