I have experienced that being jealous of others, whether it's over what they have (things) or who they are (self-worth), only served to drag me down into the muck.

From age 15 to about 30, I could never look at certain cars because my envy was so strong that it would make me angry for days. Why should these people have such awesome cars and not have to work for them (I imagined)? I live in a big city so I would see these cars often = I was always very angry inside. It used up SO MUCH of MY ENERGY that I finally had to LET IT GO.

Over 15 years later I still have to remind myself that perhaps these people are very unhappy in other ways, and I force myself to appreciate the vehicle without lamenting why I don't/can't have one.

Ask God to take away the envy and replace it with His Divine Providence. If it's in His Will, you WILL go to school and be a successful Psych. Dr... with or without Mummy and Daddies money. And what a great thing to say about yourself - that you DID NOT have the 'silver spoon' handed to you - you had to work for it!

You will have a much broader experience than your friend will.

Not all riches are measured in $ or £.
