i watched the procedure on the documentary channel. the lady they were doing it on said the room got brighter when they were testing her with it installed. that's pretty amazing. her hand responses were more rapid too. like it "lights" up the brain!
i have had good results with meds thus far but my sister is considering having it done. she has not responded to meds well and suffers from severe depression.
there has been considerable development of this procedure and i wish you well if decide to go for it. if i weren't doing well i'd be the first in line... 
every 5 years or so they just have to put a new battery in and off you go.
