Unfortunately, I am stuck dealing with a difficult person now and into the future. (Let's call this individual MW.)
Basically, MW pathologically must have the last word in every conversation, and their last word has to contradict, demean, correct or nullify anything anyone else says. Even simple small talk is met with this oppressive conversational domineering.
Often, the contradictions and corrections border on absurd. For example, if you comment on the weather and mention "clear blue skies", MW will correct you and try to convince you that the skies are green or purple, not blue. When you resist or refute MW's "correction", he gives you a good dose of verbal abuse that is supposed to make you feel stupid that you don't agree with him. If you continue to insist the skies are blue, eventually he will become belligerent, even physically violent.
Normally, I would consider a person such as MW to be just a colossal jerk. However, since EVERY SINGLE interaction with him follows this exact same pattern, I suspect he may have a serious personality disorder. No one here is able to deal with it. Most just avoid him as much as possible. I was one of them! Now I can no longer avoid him, and must be around MW for extended periods of time.
Is there a name for this type of behavior?
If it will help, MW has another quirk that is equally annoying. He insists that the people around him like the same things he does, or if they don't he will either pout, antagonize or get even with you. An example of which would be, MW insisting that everyone watch some action movie (of course he has to be in control of the remote/equipment), and then becoming upset and abusive if his "prisoners" are not showing enough interest and enthusiasm for the show he tries to force them to watch.
Help! It is exhausting, and this is a looooooooong weekend.
