How much do you say, what do you say, do you start or let them start, is it ok to cry, will they judge you, what will happen when time is up? These are all soooooooo normal. Every person wonders this. They no it, they help you. Some prefer to guide the first few sessions, maybe getting background on you, some prefer to shut the door and let you take the lead (if you can't do that, tell them that). Sometimes I think it's easier doing it because it is a stranger, not someone you'll see at the dinner table or hang out with at the mall or movies. For what it's worth I hate doctors too...and I work for them!!! I'm a terrible patient. But we aren't the only ones out there. Trust me, they are used to it. You can do it. Think how proud you'll feel when you are done. You will have conquered a fear, and that's a great feeling. Will you take the dolphin, penguin and I out for ice cream to celebrate after?
