It helps me a lot to post things on these boards....it helps me to get things out of my head, think them through, look at them, get other's opinions, ideas, and experiences. It never ever helps us to be alone with our scary thoughts, whatever they are.

My mom had the kind of breast cancer that you are talking about...but also the type that's not "in situ". She ended up having a mastectomy because of the other one. She also had chemo. She's very healthy now and all of her follow up mammograms, etc. have been clear.

My dad died of colon cancer, and then my mom had breast cancer (both in their 50s) so I am very scared of cancer. I need a mammogram myself, I've never had one because I am younger than 40, or whatever the age is when they usually start. I understand the fear that the word "cancer" strikes in your heart!

Take your time, and post whenever and whatever you need to.
