pegasus is right. before I retired from psychiatric nursing, it was the number one rule...other than restraints, no physical contact.
It's protection for the client/patient and for the professional, whether that professional is the physician or nurse or tech...

that said, I'm sorry it hurt you!
many times we do want to hug the person going through a rough time yet it's against the law...please understand that it has nothing to do with you

you are a worthwhile human being and deserve to be shown respect. don't doubt that, please.
