I'm with you, Radio Flyer - the air smells SO good.
The evergreen trees are beautiful with a fresh blanket of snow on them.
I like the way sunlight and moonlight sparkles like diamonds on the snow.
When it's really cold, I like the way the snow crunches under my feet.
After being out in the cold, I like the relief I feel when I walk into a warm home.
Hot chocolate doesn't just taste good, it warms all those nooks and crannies deep within.
When I was young, my father used to wake me up on the weekends before dawn to watch the sunrise and take a walk in the woods. After our walk, we'd cook breakfast over a fire. We did this year round, regardless of the weather.
One morning was brutally cold, and the snow was deep. I was having trouble keeping up with my dad in an open field. I complained that I was too cold. My father smiled at me and said "Isn't it GREAT? It's a reminder you're still alive." When I complained that my legs were tired and I couldn't walk any further, he said "Yes you can, you have a lot of spirit."
After our walk, we still cooked breakfast. The warmth from the fire felt SO good, but we had to eat the food really fast before it froze.
I like winter - it can provide strength....and a deeper appreciation for spring.
