wish i hadnt learned enough to know that enabling is a factor in substance abuse... someone enabled me, i enabled someone.. no one at fault... not even the alcohol industry... ive thought about it a lot and i think we use for several reasons... its a historical way to treat malady... as sufferers, we search for available remedies.. often they are provided by people we would call friends and decent folk.. no one is the scapegoat...
what it is is that we need to figure out actual ingredients in our unhealthy habits.. who do we connect with regularly? are they the healthiest of people we know? is it wrong to walk away from someone whom is slowly draining our resources?
i ask myself all these questions and continually come up with the same answer..
we need to love first.. by giving ourselves a caring and loving place to be we can feel monumentally better because we can then share a safety network of supportive others also trying to heal..
we can always do ourselves the greatest favor by remaining mindful of who and what we allow to enter our healing path..
best to all always
