I've been told that depending on the intensity of mood, riding it out can be tried, but with caution for those who are Bipolar-I, or even Bipolar - II, as opposed to someone who is not Bipolar but is just going through a moods, almost everyone has some sort of change in moods, but we know Bipolar mood swings are way different.
This almost reminds me when you may be in the company of people that do not have a clue about depression in Bipolar's, and say "snap out of it", or "why are you so moody?"
Hell, don't we all wish we could just magically "snap out of it".
My advice, is that you can sort of tell after having several episodes, when you just can't "ride it out", most need mood stabilizers in adjunt.
In a few days a person, is not feeling any mood changes, improving, it may be just a natural mood change everyone goes through, but coming from a Bipolar and a family of many (genetic/pedigree bloodline) we usually can tell when it is more than just an average change in moods. . .most of us can.
I also advise anyone, if you feel questionable about the shift in mood(s) it may be beneficial to discuss this with your pdoc, to help prevent an oncoming manic or depressive episode, cause we know they are not fun, the good ones never last.

Please take care,

DE
