My understanding is that true transgendered people have a strong desire to be the opposite sex throughout their entire lives: ie, from very early childhood onwards. I recall seeing a documentary following the daily lives of a couple of transgendered children, and their lives were truly dominated by desire to be the opposite sex. It was humbling to watch - I don't know how anyone could see that documentary and not feel incredible empathy for these young children who emotionally, mentally and consistently viewed themselves as being in the wrong body. I remember one child who would pray every night for God to take his penis away in the night, and would cry upon wakening every morning when he found it was still there.

Back to you, Moonkin... you say you have had these feelings for about a year, so my uneducated guess is that wouldn't fit the definition of transgender. Nevertheless, the feelings are there and therefore deserve your further exploration of them.
