I'm just finishing up the marvelous book "All In My Head, An Epic Quest to Cure an Unrelenting, Totally Unreasonable, and Only Slightly Enlightening Headache" by Paula Kamen. I highly recommend it for anyone who experiences any type of headache, chronic pain, chronic illness of any kind, and really just about anyone dealing with mental and/or physical health issues. It's that good.
The author has a great sense of humor, and her descriptions of her various visits to good and not so good health care folks is priceless. She journeys through both Western and alternative medicine. She writes about our society and how we view those in pain.
The book is written memoir style and it doesn't at all extort us to do whatever to fix our whatever. We simply get to travel with her, and many readers may find like I did, we are given a sense of validation for our own experiences.
Along with good ol' PTSD and anxiety, I have migraines and fibromyalgia. I read quite a bit, and it is a real treat to find such a right on book.
