when someone is used to us putting their needs WAY above ours and then we change and want to see to our needs it can be a shock for them - they can feel its bacause we dont care as much or else why wouldnt we still be doing what we were and meeting our needs too - sometimes they dont realise that the two are not connected - we can still care as much for others but need to take care of ourselves
