We're up to our eyeballs in snow, my 8-year-old car has something else wrong with it now that I can't afford to fix, and I am just feeling hopeLESS instead of hopeFUL. Anybody care to commiserate?

Candy, unemployment can be very very hard. I have been there. I was unemployed for literally a year (not to scare you) and it was the most miserable year. I can not offer advice as to your job search except to keep looking and don't give up. Make your job search your "work" every day. Apply to as many jobs as possible btwn 9 and 5 or 8 and 4. Try to keep on a set schedule if you can. Update your resume, make use of the people in your life to network.
You may be able to also apply for extended assistance ( I assume unemployment). You should call and find out. Also, I know state assistance offices usually make some resources available to those looking for work. Some even offer skill building classes and workshops to maintain or build new skills while you are out of work.
It can be hard to motivate yourself to do any of the above especially if you have already been doing it all and still have had no luck. The depression will still be lingering, I assume you know, and it's probably easier said than done, but try not to let it cripple you in your search. For a little while I let it beat me and I missed out on some opportunities. If you can try exercising as well.
I assume you are currently seeing a therapist? If you are maybe your T can help. If not, do you have someone else you can talk to? Stay strong and keep focused. It can be daunting, I know, I have been through it.
Stay strong

and take care of yourself.
