Hi,
Welcome to the forum, let me tell you I was diagnosed bipolar II (mild) 2 yrs ago. Here are all the things I've had at various times Zoloft,Prozac,Wellbutrin, Effexor, Remeron(sucks),Depakote(sucks),Celexa,Ativan, and Lithium. The combination of Celexa and Lithium has been good to me, I still get down days, but nothing like I use to, in fact I am weaning off Celexa under my doctor's supervision. I asked for Lithium because my brother has been on it for almost 30 yrs. and has been "magic" for him, he is bipolar I which is "rougher" than bipolar II. After my short experience with the other meds.(which all have made me gain weight, depakote made my hair start to fall out!) the Lithium has been the kindest, doesn't knock you out like Depakote and Remeron, man those last two made me a zombie! Now if I could only lose the 30lbs. they've caused me to gain, I'd be very happy and probably wouldn't have a need for antidepressants Sorry I don't know if this what you wanted to hear. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor if a med. sucks or not, they need to know, too bad if they do not want to hear about it, a good doctor will want to hear how you are doing with your meds. especially side effects. Take are and keep in touch.
