Don't give up on the medications. I'm diagnoses with major depression, ptsd, borderline personality, eating disorder nos, dissociative do nos. I also deal with suicidal ideation and self-injury. It took me two years to find the best combination.
But, some people have the mistaken idea that it is supposed to be a magic pill. But, I see it as a therapeutic tool to just take the edge off the emotions, so that you can work in therapy. I'm still depress and anxious, but not as much as when I am not on medications. I can sleep for three hours at a time which is a huge improvement. Right now, due to what I am dealing with in therapy, my symptoms have all increased. But, I can't imagine how much worse it would be if I didn't have them. Well, I know that I would be in the hospital.
The other thing is DO NOT stop taking your medications without your psychiatrist tapering you off...he can't force you to take it. If not monitored, you can have serious and possibly lethal side effects.
