Are you referring to Major Depression as MDD?

Major depression is considered a chronic condition. While psychotherapy can help tremendously, the underlying "causes" of major depression are generally so entrenched (with actual changes in physiology etc) that the idea of "cure" is not considered a viable goal. It can and does occur though, but only through taking the steps of treatment for relief.

It is important to work on the dystemia until it is cleared. Though the years of responding with the mindset also creates poor habits, they are not as difficult to change.

For either condition using CBT, ACT, or DBT all have good results. Focus on relearning good coping skills, healthy attitudes and points of reference and look for healing.
