Those kinds of thoughts/beliefs do create anxiety and cause us to avoid. For me, it is part of my Borderline Personality Disorder symptoms and learning more about those thoughts is what I'm doing with my psychotherapist.
I remember the first time someone told me that just because I think it, doesn't make it true.. even if I believe it and I feel it is correct. It is still, in the end just my thought.
