patricia,
hi, i'd like to encourage you, even though this was not a fun thing, to remember this experience, maybe even journal it BECAUSE it was a time when people put themselves out a bit to take care of you and see to your welfare. things like this can be used to help put something good into your "emotional bank". i am sorry you are hurting physically.
i had a sweet experience this past June. my husband and i got to go to Rome since he had to go for business. he is fit and stronger than i am and so we did some sightseeing that activated my severe pain problems even while using my cane and pain meds. we went to the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. i have bone on bone arthritis in both knees, plus fibromyalgia and after a dozen areas and at least that many sets of stairs i was not taking much in any more. and just when i felt like i couldn't go on, a man stopped beside me and leaned over and said, "Madam, you are very brave". he was gone before i could see and thank him, but a total stranger showed me compassion that my mate has long since lost from long exposure to my pain problems. that small gesture comes to my mind pretty often and gives me a little glow. pain is so tiresome and robs me of many things i would like to do and places i would like to go. sorry if i went on too long about this, it just encourages and touches my heart. i hope this experience can do that for you also. hugs,
leslie and her pixies
