I'm almost 39 years old with no children. All right, so I wasn't sexually active until I was 37 but still. . . I realize things like that take time but I'm growing more and more impatient.

Late in my 20's I did a dumb thing resulting in no periods for an entire year. I'm wondering if that messed things up so badly that I'll never have kids. My husband - 7 years older than I - thinks it might be him because of an injury he suffered earlier. Both of us are afraid to get tested and right now we couldn't afford it any way.

I've heard of a couple of cases of first-time mothers in their 40's but they seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

If anyone has any suggestions or support it would be greatly appreciated.
