I just wondered if anyone else has used mindfullness specifically in the treatment of depression.

Ummm I haven't used it for depression, though I do have a mild depression.... but my T suggested I use for my anxiety. My mind tends to get so crowded with thoughts of past and future, random stuff, to do lists etc etc. She gave me an article to read and suggested I practice it regularly. She gave me some deep breathing technique too and told me to focus on my breaths and nothing else. I have moved to listening to nature sounds. I can't practice mindfulness IRL yet (i.e. at work, running errands etc). She said eventually it will start come naturally. Now the question is, am I disciplined enough to actually practice mindfulness on a regular basis?? NO LOL...sometimes I think is a bunch of bologne. But sometimes it works. My mind doesnt feel as crowded and I am not as tense when I take my time to actually do it. but the effects of it don't last long, as I can only practice mindfulness but for so long. Then everything comes flooding back and my mind is as crowded as a NY train during rush hour.
But that's not to discourage you at all SplitImage

To each is own. I haven't given up on it yet. Ask her to refer you for the trial. I think if you can get into the trial then by all means please do it. It doesnt hurt to try--that's how I look at it. Cuz what I have been trying before I threw myself into therapy wasnt working so...what the hell? Right? Even if you don't get into the trial, you can still try and practice mindfulness on your own. Try and find a book or ask your T or Pdoc more about it or google it and see what you get.

Good Luck!
