My best friend in the whole world died today. He was my cat, Abe, who was 14&had a build up of fluid in his peritoneal cavity.(That's where all of your organs reside.) He hadn't eaten more than a spoonful of food in a week&yesterday he stopped drinking&started to hide which the vet said was a sign that Abe was asking me to help him get out of his pain. He's been there for me through a bad marriage, a worse divorce, and lots of mental health problems that included being hospitalized twice. When I first met him I really liked him. I was petting him through the bars at the shelter&stopped to look at a cat that was younger than him(He was 6 months old.), that my ex-husband was interested in, when I felt him reach out his little paw&start to tap me as if saying, "Pick me!" So began our friendship-he's always been there for me &was understanding when I was too sick to be there for him. I will love him forever&hope that he is now at peace&re-united with his mate of 11 years, Ms. Edie. I'll see you some time in the future my friend&I will never stop loving you!
