As the mom of a kid with AS, I couldn't agree more with this. We love him just how he is, and have NO desire to change the basic essence of how he thinks and the way he views the world. BUT he needs help learning the mechanics of relating to neurotypical people, just so life won't be so darn complicated for him. There are very practical skills that can be taught and learned, and make his life a bit easier... maybe there are opportunities for you to learn these same skils, if you need to...
