I've met three guys IRL from chat at Yahoo over the past three years...two of them I wound up dating, one for three months and the other was my ex of 16 months.
The first guy, things were great in the beginning, but he failed to mention the ex-wife was a royal PITA, of whom he never got over, and always put her before me (BIG NO-NO in my book; if you are dating me, I come first over other women that aren't family). Made that one take a nosedive real quick. He and I remain friends still, but it took a while for the anger to subside on my part to allow him that opportunity.
My ex and I were in the same Michigan chat room on Yahoo, and someone called out to do a location check, and he answered the same as where I live. Thru private chat, he and I discovered I only lived 1.5 miles away. After a week or so of chatting one on one, he 'dared' me to meet him at his house, gave me his address...and two days later is when our relationship began.
He and I are working things out (to get back together because we still love each other very much and we did have a good relationship minus the BP) and just the other night we were laughing about his "dare".
The third experience was just about a month ago, and this guy has more issues than National Geographic!! So, needless to say, he went buh-bye.
All in all, I have had fairly positive experiences in my IRL meetings. I only agree to it if I feel comfortable, and if I don't, we either talk more in chat, or go our separate ways before even meeting.
Hugz and Love,
Jenn
